In our world of liquid modernity our anchor of values has been pulled lose by the rip-tide of constant change washing over us and leaving our lives void of meaning. We must replant our anchor in our place, our community.
Food is the foundation of community and human life. It is that anchor. Thousand of years ago the first communities gathered around the fire, the hearth. Women and children form the first circle with the men in the outer circle. It’s now time to go back to the fire circle symbolically. We have the Food Circle here in Kansas City, as this symbol. We must gather together around food from our place on Earth. We must realize that when we eat the food of our farmers and producers we become part of that production. We are tied back to the Land, the Place, the Soil, the Earth. We will control our future. We will increase our Food Security. We will assure that our loved ones have wholesome food without Death-A-Cides and the moral taint of carbon poisoning and resource wars. For the health of our community we must act.
